Amsterdam – Masterplan Westerpark

The Westerpark is situated in between the Staadsliedenbuurt and Amsterdam. Within this park the Westergasfabriek can be found, this is a gad factory that originates from the 19th century. After the factory was abandoned 1990 it was temporarily used as a recreational facility. After this success, a decision was made to create a new masterplan for the factory and the surrounding park; the Westerpark.

The park is designed to be an addition to the missing recreational and sporting facilities in the densely populated area, creating a functional connection with the neighboring area. The old factory buildings function as the center of activities within the green area. Nowadays, the Westerpark and the factory buildings are often used for large events.
